I promise you that’s not my intention. Sorry if you feel it is.

you could argue it gives you an advantage, but how in the fuck would it be unfair?

if i decide to run a marathon in my bare feet, it’s not an unfair advantage to everyone using shoes

its not even like getting a wrong answer gives you one point, what was it the other week, a five letter anagram and three people came up with the same six letter word

“google gives an unfair advantage” depends on the question. if you’d be leaving it blank otherwise then yeah obviously it gives you an advantage. dunno how that’s even a discussion tbh

It’s 100% how it feels and it’s really not nice.

I won’t be playing any more so don’t worry everyone :+1:

I don’t think it is unfair. It’s open to everyone as an option, it’s debatable (and probably specific to the question) if it provides any advantage

I have used google both times and have placed lower than 50 both times

Maybe it is only a quiz of sorts :thinking:

I’m not massively bothered, but I do think there’s a pretty big difference between googling something when you literally wouldn’t be able to think of an answer so you’ve got something to put down, and googling to get other and/or better options when you have a couple of ideas already.

Nah you’re alright thanks. Enjoy your dispassionate list of top search results.

can it not be just as embarrassing getting a low score when googling?

Also some of you really don’t like being disagreed with do you. Very strange.

No because at least it’s correct

As if you do :stuck_out_tongue:

Well yeah obviously but not to the extent that’s happened here. There are ways of taking to people

Is this why other people used to badmouth quizzers in the other threads? I really enjoyed last week’s one but there’s a lot of straw-manning going on here

Fair enough.

i just don’t see how? it was clearly stated in the OP that you could do it if you want. if you decide not to, bash on… but in what way is that unfair?

… leading me to the suggestion I made in the OP of this thread

Thing is, what AQOS questions test and what Google is good at are (usually) different.

Most AQOS questions should be things where multiple answers come readily to mind: figuring out what’s the most obvious to the most people here is the challenge. I’ll google ‘kitchen appliances’ if I want to know where to buy them, not to know whether posters here think kettles or fridges are the more archetypal kitchen item.

Cases where you really know nothing should be the exception (and questions where a number of people know nothing are, I think, the weaker ones). If you need to google to at least have an answer, that seems fine to me: it’s more fun with more people involved, so I’d rather barriers not be created.
