right…have to go against the grain here and say…I found this a much more involving, emotive and interesting listen than Reflektor which didn’t move me at all and the impressive but mid-paced and restrained Suburbs. It reminds me a bit of Neon Bible - uneven but with strong moments though the peaks and troughs are both lower than Neon Bible. I agree that Chemistry is gash but the singles all have a spark to them …We don’t deserve love and Peter Pan are my early highlights and I’d be putting this at a high 7/10 after 5 listens.

I adored Funeral and their early Funeral era gigs but can’t get excited about them anymore which I guess is why I find myself pleasanty surprised by this.

In terms of my top 10:

  1. Power Out
  2. Crown of Love
  3. Tunnels
  4. Une Annee Sans Lumiere
  5. Laika
  6. Wake Up
  7. Rebellion (Lies)
  8. In the backseat
  9. Haiti
  10. (Antichrist Television Blues) or Keep the Car Running

Nah that song is a banger, awkward lyrics and all

Listened to this while trying to fall asleep the other night and the main thing that stood out was how simple and thin the melodies and hooks of each song were. To distract from this it seemed like there was an attempt to chuck a load of other stuff at the songs to compensate for this. Simple songs are fine but then they have to be able to stand on their own without all the hoohah.

Some good songs on here but overall not very engaging or interesting as an experience.

Saw a guy wearing the Everything Now t-shirt last night. Felt really bad for him.

I pre-ordered ‘Everything Now’ and all I got was this lousy t-shirt… and album

I’ve got a t-shirt with a nice Arcade Fire logo on the front, but then all Everything Now stuff on the back and arms. If I wear a jacket over it then nobody’s any the wiser.

Yeah, the Arcade Fire infinity logo is great, shame they stuck all that other shite all over it

You know, for an album that I consider myself to be disappointed in, I sure have listened to it a lot

Number 1 in America and the Uk

*to tracks 1, 2, 4, 9, 11, 12 and 13 A LOT

I don’t know if it’s just me but I ADORE Funeral, but have always found Crown of Love to be pretty cringe

Also, Supersymmetry is absolutely gorgeous and massively underrated imo

It’s the weakest on there, i think. The climax feels a bit tacked on.

Still a decent tune though.

I like Supersymmetry but it feels like a better fit on the Her OST than it does on Reflektor

On that note, looked like they played a song called ‘Dimensions’ from the Her OST at a show recently - https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/arcade-fire/2017/metro-chicago-il-53e53b89.html

That song is amazing

Nice, I’ll check it out. Maybe they’re planning to finally release that album and claw back some critical favour?

I am in the minority, but for me:

Funeral > Neon Bible >>>>The Suburbs >>>>Reflektor>>>>>>>>>>>Everything Now.

Black Mirror is fucking magical.

Got my sister to listen to the new one and her response was “Where are all their beautiful instruments and chords?”. Quite.
