Just had to log in because I was thinking about this again

Disagree. While they can be fine, there’s a reason they’re cheap. Delays are more common than with flagship airlines and boarding/departing is often more grief (remote stands, small gates etc)

I’m currently flying every fortnight across Europe and in general have a better experience with flagship airlines compared to easyJet/Ryanair.

If you’re paying personally and infrequently then fine. But if the price differential is small and/or you fly a lot then a bit of a better experience and being on time means a lot

If you’re heading to the city then you could be quicker disembarking at Southend than at Heathrow or Gatwick. It’s literally 5 mins through arrivals and then 40 mins to Liverpool Street on a 4 an hr service.

Air travel is a ball-ache one way or the other. Could not give less of a shit about remote stands or small gates. It’s going to be a vaguely unpleasant experience whatever way you do it, no point breaking the bank to have a bit more elbow room while you’re waiting to board the flying death tube.

Im not suggesting breaking the bank. I’m saying if you are able to pay more, or work is paying, then in my experience it’s often worth it. Some airports have budget terminals that are literallly like herding cattle. Also the ‘minor’ but common delays of 30/60 mins can be a real inconvenience.

MR HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN

Flew with BA recently and the cabin crew Mgr was begging people to complain to head office when all the passengers realised they weren’t getting a free shit sandwich and started moaning.

I’ve always liked KLM for long haul flights

I’m laughing so much right now. Like, heartily on a packed bus. Incredible.

I’ll say it now, one of the best posts on here ever. Just imagining nikkers and her so silently trudging up the stairs to the aircraft in holiday wear, but with cycle helmets strapped on.

Faces like a pair of smacked bums. But in bike helmets.

I can’t believe I didn’t mention it before tbh

i honestly can’t believe it either. I’m still smiling.

the idea that they both adjusted the fit of their helmets in the departures area before boarding adds a new level of hilarity to it. the shit faced smile of the flight attendant welcoming passengers onboard. the awkward fumbling to get the helmets off onboard the aircraft and then safely stow them in the overheard compartment, while some awful family tries to shove their souvenir bags into the same space.

Yeah the one time I ended up at Southend from Amsterdam as a result of a missed flight I was pretty impressed by how quick it was into town

Ah really? Connections are much better than I thought then. Fair play

Just completely lost it at my desk picturing @plasticniki and @plasticmike boarding with their helmets on.

oh god.
