the tune and arrangement has always reminded me of early arcade fire. The whole albums great tbf, though I appreciate some of the more trad stuff wouldn’t be for everyone.

probably most of them…? Certainly more than there are artists who I do desire to check out the rest of their stuff.

Reckon this might be one of my favourite and most listened to songs ever, never heard another note by them

The Future Islands song when the funny man growls and dances in a silly way.

From (hazy) memory all their songs sounded exactly the same anyway

The Ataris are great!

Blue skies is a top album

Also they had some decent singles

even when they had a major label record they had solid stuff (although the lyrics are a bit corny)

I love how the still for that YouTube video is not the album that The Weight is on.

And despite the fact that From Rusholme with Love is a brilliant album title

Love this, buy I find everything else I’ve heard from them exhausting about 5 seconds in, so have never pushed through.

It might not be that I don’t like the other songs just not that i haven’t heard them. This is a banger found on every rites of passage movie of the late 1990s:

@UncleRetrospective 's post in the new releases thread about not liking Damien Dempsey’s vocals is something I have to disagree with the eminent poster on…however my knowledge of his ouvre is pretty much confined to one track that was on a free Morrissey curated CD from the NME in the days when the NME had certainly jumped the shark but I’d still get it now and then…absolutely love this tune (and his voice, sorry Uncle) but apart from a fleeting listen to one LP never quite motivated myself to check out more…
