Frankie Cocozza notably absent from that list

I know absolutely sod all about metal, that’s why. If they’re good and influential and famous, I am happy to have the record changed accordingly

I believe Ulrika Spacek (shoegaze-y) too are from or based in Reading?

That’s an impressive list for a place the size of Stourbridge. According to Wikipedia the model from the Athena tennis poster is also from your hometown. You must be so proud.

They’d somehow completely passed me by. Tutns out some of them used to be in Tripwires, who I’d completely forgotten about.

High Wycombe - used to be a good hotspot for gigs back in the day. There’s a great recording of a Joy Division set on the deluxe edition of Still.

Dusty Springfield was raised but wasn’t born there.

Bit of a cheat but Ian Dury went to school there.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix

The Young Guns who I’m not familiar with but have apparently supported G’n’R and Bon Jovi.

60s crooner Frankie Vaughan

The Might Boosh also formed after Noel Fielding saw Julian Barrett performing stand-up at the Hellfire Comedy Club at the Wycombe Swan Theatre.

wow, being related to ‘The Great’ Paul Thompson is plenty enough to shout about. one of the atg drummers :+1:

Had never heard this before - Quite like it! Bit more Radiohead-y but there’s signs of where they would go with the Ulrika Spacek sound. Nice!

Morning Runner. Probably most famous for doing the song that became the inbetweeners theme. Saw them do an instore at fopp once, which is a very mid 2000’s Reading reference.

Maidenhead. Very very little tbh. Chesney Hawkes went to school here. The spice girls also lived in a house together for a bit pre fame, so i am claiming them as a maidenhead heritage act.

If Timmy Mallet ever did a novelty single, then him too.

No problem. I was surprised to read that bit too. I used to visit there quite a bit from late 90’s -'05 and I knew people that played in bands there. One in particular (The Exhibition) were always talking about moving away as there was nothing there for them.

'Tis a bit of a cultural goldmine. The creator of 80s cartoon The Shoe People was always knocking around the town centre when it was in its pomp. I always thought that Corrie’s Johnny Briggs living locally was a bit of a myth, until I lined up behind him at a cashpoint once.

Stourbridge is charming, in a shoddy way, providing you can actually find your way in, off the ring road that engulfs us.

Kenickie too

Where I originally come from there’s absolutely nothing. And even if I broaden the remit to the whole of West Cumbria I think there’s just It Bites:

Of course!
