just meet me in st louis and the stranglers I think.

notice there is a tendency for bands from around here to describe themselves as “London based”

This is where my parents live now! (In Polkemmet Country Park.)

Absolutely no artists of note from where I’m originally from, other than some pretty tight ceilidh and pipe bands.

I remember GuilFest (RIP) always seemed to have loads of local bands on the lower rungs of the bill. What I can’t remember however is who any of them were…

Remember Brian Wilson coming on stage on the 2009 Saturday night and announcing ‘Hello London!’.

They’re good! Think they are brother and sister - at any rate the artist Alpha Steppa is described as son and nephew of Alpha & Omega. All three of them do records together as Dub Dynasty, who are also excellent

Searched long and hard for Yate and came up with Josie Gibson of Big Brother fame who released a Christmas single with the Cornish Wurzels in a bid for Christmas number one 10 years ago .

There is no YouTube video available.

Wikipedia used to say Wayne Hussey from The Mission was from Yate but that’s now been changed to Bristol and I can’t find any evidence online that he is indeed from Yate.

he’s from Winterbourne (read his autobiography a while back, very weird to see him discussing places I know well)

Oh yes - there used to be quite a few from there, but it was based around a record shop or two rather than clubs or a ‘scene’.

Damn it I was hoping to claim him for Yate!

About as good as it gets for Southport and surrounding area:

I remember Snoop Dogg asking “what’s up Edinburgh?” at T in the Park one time. I think a lot of acts just assume they’re performing in the same place as the airport they arrived at.
