Artists rerecording their earlier songs

This is a thread for sharing both versions and then a poll to ask people which was better. Chat about how pathetic this is also allowed.

Actually, I can’t be fucked to get the links on mobile. Goodnight.

Devil Sold His Soul remade Like Its Your Last, an actual 10/10 song, to accomodate the new singer as well as the old and its dogshit. In the spirit of the thread, I will not be linking

Also not bothering with the links, but the Taylor Swift discography

New version is cannon cause SHE BURNS

Didn’t expect to be posting about finch tonight but so be it. Second version is both less and more produced and benefits from it. Have no context about anyone’s decisions on how this came to be and letter to you shits on both but I’m on a bus right now and this is what came to mind. Bone shattering tune

Mew did this with a few songs but this is the only one where the new one is better

Also shout out to bell x1 for murdering eve the apple of my eye when they re-released music in mouth. No need lads Jfc.

Average emo song

Nice acoustic song

If I wrote that lyric I would die happy and the original lets it breathe. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?

Also big up Longview who had a nice little line in elbow core and My Vitriol whom you can investigate who opted to smother their entire being with a ‘us remix’

I vastly prefer Cat Power’s version of ‘In This Hole’ on The Covers Record over the original on What Would the Community Think.

Which version of True Love Waits are we all going for then?

Meursault rerecorded their first (perfect) album, so the only version on streaming now is the lesser, slightly cleaner and neater update. Suppose it more accurately reflects how they play those tracks live lately but still hate it

That re-recorded Morning View that Incubus stuck out was a shocker

Need some parameters here. What do we say about bands re-recording a virtually demo version from a debut single/EP for the debut album (e.g. Bloc Party’s She’s Hearing Voices; Sleight Bell’s Ring Ring / Rill Rill)?

Also:

The Cure — Boys Don’t Cry (single, 1979)

or

The Cure — Boys Don’t Cry (single, new vocal, 1986)

Vote now by replying and saying which you prefer.
