Roy’s going to have to get cracking if he’s going to knock this deficit off before stumps.

I mean this is the most wickets in an opening day at Lords ever

Yeah, but they’d have the same number of overs regardless of venue

CC games get through 96 overs a day without issue, and they have similar numbers of wickets fall regularly

Has anyone been out twice in one day on their test debut before?

Woakes to open, surely?

Sure the memory of hammering Australia on the way to World Cup glory is still keeping him very happy

I see they’re discussing Woakes as an opener on TMS now.

taps nose.

Good to see one of the opener’s spots finally getting nailed down…

A batsman who’s struggling with the bat but is bowling really good spin
A spin bowler who’s struggling with the ball but doing a decent job opening the batting
An opening batsman who might struggle in the first ten overs but does a great job unexpectedly coming in at 3

Gets you to an opener, a spinner, and a number 3?

Not the opener, spinner and number 3 that we wanted, but the opener, spinner and number 3 that we deserve.
