August 2019 Politics Thread - Recess!

I feel like we were all expecting this weren’t we? Every time there’s a poll where people pick ‘Brexit won’t happen’ or people post that it won’t, I just assume they’re doing some kind of ‘positive thinking’ angle for their MH rather than making an objective claim. :grimacing:

we shouldn’t be surprised that the people who’ve spent 3 years screaming about how sensible they are now want to ratfuck corbyn to keep a vaguely socialist leaning gov out of even temp power, but it’s at least reassuring to finally have proof that the libs and not us were the dangerous extremists all along.

…Space cadets messing around on the training grounds while other people are taking part in the big match.

If nothing else, Brexit’s given us a wealth of terrible analogies. We should feel blessed.

Back…

…in the USSR.

If Labour aren’t calling for HBO to remake GoT S8 with a better ending can they really be considered a party of ‘The People’?

Corbyn’s against Fuse returning? He’s lost my vote :frowning:

Absolutely despairing at all of this now. It’s definitely going to be no deal, isn’t it? I’d put money on it if I wasn’t planning on burying it all in the back garden.

The Melt Banana gig I’m going to on October 31st should at least be cathartic.

I’m really struggling to see light at the end of the tunnel too. I thought Arsehole Boris was trying to call the EU’s bluff, but he’s doubled down on so much stupid crap I can only assume he’s determined to have a No Deal that he can blame on everyone else. The opposition parties all seem to be struggling to organise a piss-up in a brewery, so I can’t see them doing anything worthwhile in the next two months.

They’re not struggling with anything, this is exactly what the Lib Dems want to happen

To an extent. They want to be kingmakers, but it isn’t going to happen. Hence struggling to organise said piss-up.

They’ve all decided it’s better to jockey for position in the carve-up of whatever’s left after no-deal than it is to actually do something about it. Party politics, ladies and gentlemen, the art of the crisitunity.

ETA Plus a lot of them actually don’t want to be in the EU anyway for reasons

will probably be worth doing a recession watch thread soon, if there’s anyone who gets economics who wants to do it. the forecasts are looking grim aren’t they, and not just in the uk.
