Yeah I mean it’s pretty obvious they’d have binned it off to a streaming service but for contractual reasons.

Shame though, Fox generally had more hits than misses in recent years with their non-main like X titles, so I had some hopes this would be decent.

(Except this one doesn’t exist etc etc)

The new Xavier Dolan film is coming to Mubi on Friday! Had tickets for it at the BFI before Miss Rona happened so excited to finally see it.

mad that A Quiet Place 2 was ready to go in March

Saw a poster on a bus for not the other day with the March date, had to actually check it that was the original or the re-re-scheduled date.

I remember thinking the Bond people had gone too far pushing This is No Time to Die Mr Bond back to November. Seems a very sensible move now.

The Peter Jackson Beatles film being put back 18 months was a bit of a kick in the nuts. I can’t recall anything else having such a delay.

Ended up getting a bit emotional last night after a double bill of Moonlight and Andre the Giant. Hadn’t seen the former since the cinema but it was still strikingly beautiful and each performance was so spot on / seamless. Just a really brilliant and masterful movie imo.

The Andre doc was pretty much all new to me, outside of the name, I really didn’t know much about him or that era of wrestling. Only really know about the attitude era. Found it all to be a bit sad tbh though Andre did seem like an extraordinary figure with a real passion for what he did. It was great to see people like Hogan and McMahon speaking so highly of him too.

Talking of sound mix, there’s been a few newer films I’ve watched recently where the discrepancy between the dialogue and other sound has been HUGE. Like, any music would be easily 5x the volume of people speaking and have me jump for the remote. Fucking exhausting.

And I thought London cinema tickets were expensive

Just got back from seeing it and I am completely deaf but couldn’t hear a lot of the dialogue anyway because they spent most of the time with something obstructing their faces. Not that hearing what they had to say would make it any less confusing! Drove home expecting to see loads of backwards shit. It’s made me feel weird!

Blackhat - Simultaneously a very cool version of a very lame film and a very lame version of a very cool film. I liked it though, the central casting choice is an absolute disaster but I was properly engrossed despite that. Fuckin’ handsome beefcake Chris Hemsworth as a genius hacker is such a bizarre choice. Everyone else is pretty great tbf and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Definitely the most lovely looking of the digital Mann stuff IMO.

Didn’t Swordfish make a similar baffling casting decision with Hugh Jackman

Not seen Swordfish actually. I feel like Hugh Jackman is an OK actor though.

I kept thinking about how much I wish it had been mid-90s Pacino in the role instead. Hearing him do tech dialogue would be a fucking blast.

Tech nerds can be hyper attractive chads too you know! Please check your personal biases.
