That’s that then. Can’t say I’m not disappointed but became clear it was done once a third bid was rejected and we moved onto Robin Koch. Makes sense for Leeds given he cost less than half and we’ve been able to push the boat out for other signings (De Paul, Rodrigo and Koch will be about £70m - a no-brainer considering they’re regulars for Argentina/Spain/Germany, in comparison to spending a similar amount on say, White+Watkins, who as promising as they look are yet to play a PL minute between them).
Not moving on to a top-six club is a good thing for him really. Ought to get regular minutes in the Premier League. Will be interesting to see how he does in a side less dominant and likely with more backs-to-the-wall defending required (lack of aerial dominance a slight concern there), as was rarely the case last season, and how he does in what sounds like a back three. If he continues on the same trajectory I’m convinced he’ll go to a Champions League club for £70m in a year or two.
