We’re going to boil so, so much bad meff piss if this is anywhere near true…

That seems dodgy 5 year deal with the group rather than the individual club. More power to him I suppose

Joking aside, I’m staring to see what City’s plan is with all this CFG nonsense. Grow it to the point it’s worth billions, then use stakes in it to lure the elite players in the world when FFP would make their salaries impossible. With Messi for instance, just chuck him 10%, £300m for him, limited wages on the books, everybody’s happy.

2.7 million a week :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Double it, and give him Urmston.

On a genuine level, as a football romanticist of sorts, do you find this at all problematic or troublesome though?

Dunno, if Silva and De Bruyne could work as advanced 8s no reason why Messi couldn’t slot in

JFC

Seriously, though, Maine Road FC v Squires Gate, live on the BBC red button.

What a time to be alive.

oh I like this one

that’s horrible though, isn’t it?

like, not saying my own club isn’t a horrible corporate juggernaut, but this is next level yuck. makes all the ire about the FFP thing seem… y’know

Not much different from the deal taking Beckham to MLS

Looking forward to seeing Messi’s weird agent farm club in the Argentinan second division in 10 years

this seasons Nike kits are all bollocks

I am very disappointed in them

That jacket is something

looks like Kane is wearing something shit he’s been given for his birthday and trying not to look ungrateful whilst his mates are about to rip the piss out of him

does anyone who understands football economics have a realistic assessment of how much value and revenue a player like Messi could generate for a club like City in terms of exposure, profile, merchandising, etc?

I’m presuming EPL is carried fairly globally in terms of broadcast - and obviously Messi at City will bump City’s matches up the roster in China, Arabian Peninsula, SE Asia, Africa & ofc South America, thus branding City globally

but I reckon the proper value is in his move to the MLS in terms of exporting the entire league into broadcast packages globally where it doesn’t yet have any penetration

It’s not about the pure financial revenue expenses like Messi recoup though is it? They have basically unlimited money. It’s pr expenditure

I understand that if we want a new midfield we probably have to sell one of AMN or Bellerin, but if Bellerin goes for anything close to £25m I’m personally rioting. They need to double that.

Might want to give it a going over with the iron, mate.
