Everyone knows “Beds Are Burning”, but here’s a somewhat less well known song from Midnight Oil:
The title refers to a troupe of fighters, not to Jimmy Sharman’s underwear. Jimmy Sharman’s Boxers was a travelling show consisting of aboriginal men who would fight customers who paid for the privilege - I believe this form of entertainment was not uncommon in circuses a century ago. The men were, not to put too fine a point on it, exploited. The lyrics are sung from the perspective of one of the boxing troupe.
