Weā€™d need one to formally ask for the Article 50 extension wouldnā€™t we, unless May is willing to be humble enough to do it herself (remember, she remains PM until a new one has been to the palace, and thereā€™s no guarantee a general election would give a clear result).

I find it completely baffling that the government STILL is taking the line that ā€œthey donā€™t mean that really. Theyā€™ll do it for us in the end.ā€ Itā€™s the one point the EU has been completely consistent on.

May really should have opted for Norway as the basis of her deal - itā€™s the only form of Brexit that ever stood a chance politically.
