wasn’t necessary -didn’t even need a bathroom break which was surprising - but got end of row at the very back and was glad to be the only person in the cinema with a clear and unobstructed exit

Usually when people talk glowingly about a film that looks this bad from the trailer it’s natural to ask what they’re smoking, but in this case I guess we ask what they’re chewing.

my vape wasn’t working when i got to the cinema yesterday so i watched it completely sober, however i am definitely going to be stoned next time around, i reckon the ocean stuff especially will be :star_struck:

Realistically I’ll see it over the course of three or four lunchtimes when it’s free on D+.

I’d imagine much like the first one it’s a dull story with cliché dialogue that takes too long to get to the big action climax where you finally get some pre-Titanic vintage Cameron directing.

confirmed

also confirmed. although the ‘climax’ lasts a full act of the movie, and it’s fucking incredible. there’s also a lot of fun ‘hanging out in the world’ stuff which i really enjoyed but felt incredibly in need of an editor

That was true about the first film iirc. Was about 45 mins of the final hour (the action finalé

Just been to see it now, IMAX 3D, it was absolutely fantastic. Stunning to look at, the 3hr+ runtime flew by. I’m a huge 3D sceptic, but I think this just has to be seen in 3D, and on the biggest screen you can find, it’s such an experience.

I know I’m gushing a bit, and I’m sure it won’t hold up to much thinking about the plot afterwards, but as a pure cinematic experience, it’s unmatched by anything I’ve seen for a long time

This is one of those things that hammers home for me how out of touch I am. Would never have thought there would be so many people so keen to see an Avatar sequel about a decade down the line.

Yeah I also assumed it was a total waste of money to make, but I think it’s just turning out that people do actually just want a big cinema blockbuster, which is exactly what this is

I think it’s been so long has probably helped it in a weird way. If you only sort of remember it, and mostly thing about how it was a big flashy spectacle, you can look back on it more fondly if you’re in the mood for a sequel? I think? Maybe people just like blue stuff.

I mean the biggest (or second biggest if Avatar 2 overtakes it) film of this year is a Top Gun sequel almost four decades down the line!

(Which was also just a really good blockbuster)
