He sounds like a nightmare, though! Some of the others in this thread, I can kind of interpret them maybe being aloof out of being extremely nervous or something, but maaaaaan.

worst one ever was when i was 14 - went to the cinema with a girl from a different school to see the 3rd LOTR film (keeping this anecdote on-brand with the rest of the thread)

got there and her dad and younger brother were there as well. she was like ‘oh they’re not coming with us, they just happen to be seeing the same film’ - she seemed fairly embarrassed so i just went along with it. anyway they sat about 3 rows behind us which was pretty stressful.

there was an interval (!) in the middle of the film, we went out into the lobby and they were waiting there for us with an ice cream for us each :bow:

anyway it got towards the end of the film and i thought ‘fuck it’ and kissed her anyway \m/

and now she’s dating someone from a massive pop band (non-lesbian)

Few years back me and my date ended up at different ‘Nature Photography Of The Year’ exhibitions. I was at the Horniman and she was at the NHM…

Met my current gf for a first date on NYE. A mate of hers was visiting London and she felt guilty for him being alone that night so reluctantly invited him along. Wasn’t bad or awkward in fairness.

Kinda got stranded and they asked me if I wanted to stay the night. Slept on the sofa for a bit and then a housemate (I didn’t know existed) turned up around 3:30am. Scared the shit out of each other as she didn’t know I was there. She just sat in a chair until the morning which I found odd. I didn’t know until the next day that she actually sleeps on the sofa. Oops.

1st story - having a first date at a nature photography exhibition. My date choices are so boring - I always just say “let’s go for a drink”

2nd story - maximum awks from the sofa sleeping housemate

The first date where the guy announced 20 minutes in that he was taking anti-schizophrenia medicine. I mean fair play for the honesty but its hard to know where to go from that.
