KONpilation really is excellent. I’ve not been that keen on Babybird albums since Bugged, but this one is amazing.

As for where to start with Babybird, I’d definitely agree with everyone recommending There’s Something Going On. One of my favourite albums by anyone.

His album under his own name (Stephen Jones), Almost Cured Of Sadness, is also pretty much perfect.

Never given Baby Bird a chance because of You’re Gorgeous, but maybe I’ll revisit him. (I guess it’s a bit like someone hearing Wake Up Boo and not bothering with The Boo Radleys)

yeah maybe. After a quick listen now it’s just how throwaway the second track is, must have killed any momentum for me. Feels like a total B side. Maybe I should just skip that one

That was a single. It’s OK, but the weakest song on there. I quite enjoyed it live.

Ahhh, I love If You’ll Be Mine. Lovely sweet song. Very pop-y though.
Back Together is also great, although they released a single/reworked version of that song which is even better.
And the last three songs of that album (especially Take Me Back) are so stunning and quite crushing - at the very least, skip to those three and listen to them.

Cheers for the tips. I’ll chase up There’s Something Going On. I noticed there’s a couple of freebie compilations of his early lo-fi albums on Bandcamp, so I’ll give them a download as well.

the KON stuff is superb. truly. deserves a much larger release.

some of it is patchy, but i think a focused release of the best tracks could be rad

a ‘best of the bandcamp’ years compilation would be even better
