This drawing is ridiculous
Damn, Skyrim and Bioshock already in the list and the accompanying artwork is insanely good. This could be the greatest thread of all time!
Iāve played this! got halfway through and then forgot about it. maybe iāll finish it at some point
between approx 2002 and 2004 I read PC Gamer magazine a lot, and by doing so I absorbed quite a lot about video game history
but since then, other than dabbling in a few Switch games, I basically know nothing much about what has happened in video games
Iām probably gonna learn more about video gaming since 2004 in this thread than I have done anywhere in the last 20 years
which is pretty fucking sweet

Wonderful stuff to wake up to. Canāt wait to see who wins in December
That drawing is so good Bam. Would honestly hang that on the wall.
97. Vagrant Story (2000)
Youād be forgiven for thinking that a Japanese Role Playing game featuring an amnesiac protagonist facing off against a sinister and corrupt church and aristocracy is fairly standard stuff. However this Squaresoft published 2000 cult classic is anything but. Developed by acclaimed Tactics Ogre maestro Yatsumi Matsuno and his team, Vagrant Story pushed graphics on the original Sony Playstation to their absolute limit, featuring full 3d environments and characters rendered in a detailed yet painterly and impressionistic style. Set in the world of Ivalice previously established in Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story features plenty of political intrigue brought to life through an excellent if a little flowery translation from Alexander O. Smith.
The atmosphere is further fleshed out with a soundtrack from Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre) which is confident enough to largely eschew typical JRPG pomp in favour of ominous ambience and drones, letting the setting breathe and highlighting the lonely journey of protagonist Ashley Riot.
With an interesting blend of real time and turn based combat (free 3d real time movement with paused turn based actions essentially), a rhythmic combo system and even an early weapon crafting system, this adventure through the undead gothic city of Lea Monde is one you wonāt soon forget!
If Worms 2 doesnāt win we riot.
WWP wants a word
You mean Worms Armageddon right
Did I say Worms Armageddon?
Would be hilarious if the top 10 was identical to the GQ list
Nah but I think you meant to really
The biggest question is which FFās wont make the list
Damn you Iām going to have to make my own list too now arenāt I? Not sure I can manage 100, but easily 50.
96. The Pinball Arcade (2012)
Physics! A simple inescapable set of rules enjoyed the world over. Take a ball and hit it with something that isnāt a ball and then see what happens. Is this not the basis of all sports? At least the good ones anyway. Hell, in snooker they even hit the ball with another different ball! Well lucky for you, you donāt need to be Ronald Antonio OāSullivan to enjoy pinball, or more specifically, The Pinball Arcade from Farsight Studios.
Featuring fantastic and realistic (to a layman anyway) physics that feel quick yet weighty, a plethora of authentic tables from Bally, Midway, Williams and the other oneā¦oh yeah Stern, The Pinball Arcade serves as a potted history of the medium and showcases some great table design from when video games themselves were still in their infancy. Medieval Madness may be my personal highlight but there is plenty of enjoyment here to sink your flippers into
