Is there some vintage classic film they’re showing like alien or shining or owt?

Fuck, senior member of the council hanging out in our department! Good thing she actually likes me and there’s no major work I should be doing.

nope, it’s really dire

Solo wars worth seeing?

I am sweating my balls off here and have to go to our basement practice space and clean it for a few hours. I’m going to smell like a rotten ham.

genuinely gutted. One of the things that makes Netrunner so great is that of all the dozens and dozens of card games out there, there’s genuinely nothing else like it. It’s fundamentally different. There’s nothing to replace it.

I was sure Rhik Sammader had done this one in his regular kitchen gadget review column but I can’t find it.

why is it ending? can’t you just use the cards you already have? what’s a netrunner?

RIP u will live on forever. Cant believe it. I wanna run to u. Really cant believe this. @

yeah but with no formal Organised Play support it’ll fall apart pretty quickly

Yeah, but they’re going to stop supporting organised play too (the license to the universe it’s set in expired), i.e. a tournament scene. Which is more than prize support, it’s also curating a ban list etc to keep the game balanced.

With no new cards being released, people stop playing. So local groups drop below the critical mass they need to keep going, which means fan run tournaments get lower and lower numbers and eventually it burns out. It’s happened before with other card games.

can’t they renew it? wouldn’t it be in everyone’s interest to keep a popular thing going, or do the license holders think they’re getting the shaft?

We don’t know the details, but it isn’t being renewed for whatever reason. The license holder is the people who make Magic: The Gathering, so… speculate at will there.

(I doubt it was the other party tbh, the people who made Netrunner are notoriously rubbish with in-licensed stuff)
