Focusing on air travel alone seems odd though. Transportation as a whole accounts for 14% of global CO2 emissions (2014 figures). The internet creates approximately the same percentage of emissions as air travel (2%) and I don’t see anyone being criticised for excessive internet use (safety wink).
There are loads of things that can be done to fix this, each with differing amounts of impact. Blaming individuals for not making enough sacrifices is probably less effective that campaigning for changes to (for example) agricultural and industrial practices at a structural or national level.
I’m not saying this stuff is unimportant. Far from it. But I think picking on lifestyle choices is only a small part of the story.
