for important stuff they can be good as i don’t like answering the phone, or making phonecalls, and a missed call with a voicemail can be good to help me prepare in advance for the call back. good if it’s about a job interview or something and they let you know the available days and you’ve got time to think about it before ringing them back. have also had a couple of job knockbacks via voicemail which was much more painless than actually speaking to the person.

fucking hate informationless voicemails though. “hi, it’s Shitcunts Ltd calling for Mr Icarus Smicarus, can you please give us a call back today on 028…” ffs just tell me what you want

How voicemail retrieval should work:

  1. Call voicemail.
  2. Hear useful messagee.
  3. Get option to hear caller’s number

How it actually works:

  1. Call voicemail.
  2. Spend three thousand seconds listening to the automated reel-off of the caller’s number.
  3. Hear three seconds of nothing.

Absolute bollocks, mate.

If you have my number and I don’t answer, send a quick text.

Job number one for today: find out how to turn voicemail off.

Turned mine off because every single voicemail that I ever received was something along the lines of this from ol’ ma dots: “Hi Addy! Just giving you a quick call to catch up, give me call back when you get this message darling. Bye!”

It was kinda sweet but having a missed call from someone is enough for me to know they’ve called and I will always call them back.

I still get the same message from my dad every now and then (much along the lines of @andyvine up there), just ‘Hi, it’s me, hope you’re well, catch you soon.’ The only other person to have left me a voicemail in the last few months was Terry the gas engineer, and he left three increasingly irate ones because he called when I was switching mobile providers and I was without that number for a couple of days (sorry Terry!). Might bin it off.
