Love Amazonia is a non-profit compilation bringing together electronic artists from around the world to support indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest affected by the COVID19 pandemic, illegal deforestation, industrial farming, oil exploration, mining and unlawful occupation of their ancestral territories.

Today was a very expensive day! But the Bandcamp Fridays are making me think that I should splash out the money for the bands/music that I really like, and doing it via BC instead of just continuing to stream or buying from another site that might be cheaper but will give them less money. Plus I didn’t buy anything last month, so it was a kind of rollover month.

In addition to my previous purchases, including this one-day charity compilation album (3 hours left to buy!), I’ve also just come across this other new charity compilation album, with songs by Canadian artists such as Owen Pallett, Lydia Ainsworth, and Chad Vangaalen. and a whole heap of other folk I don’t know:

and then one final purchase: Evening Hymns (who have made one of my favourite albums of the year) posted about a joint instrumental album he did with some violin chap, and all purchases today will go to another good cause. I’ve just listened to half of it, but it sounds lovely:

not much this month, just a couple of Pay What You Wants;

got the Mogwai live album.

got the new Postcard Versions album a couple of weeks ago on a non Bandcamp Friday so i went back today and paid a couple of quid for the first one which i downloaded for free originally last year (they’re a sort of jangly indie band featuring the non-Girl Band guitarist from The Claque).

Sea Pinks have reissued their debut for its 10th anniversary and released a bonus EP of outtakes so i grabbed the latter

also wishlisted a couple of Citóg Records compilations recently so paid a couple of euro for the most recent one

will probably scope out some other possibilities before bed

I also noticed this! They moved to monthly app updates about 9 months ago. Really hope this means they’re putting a bit more time into improving the mobile experience.

Keep seeing them advertising jobs for developers so I think they’re knuckling down on that side of things, which is a good sign!

Chromecast makes listening to Bandcamp Weekly so much better as I can get the chromecast to pull the stream directly rather than having to bluetooth it or similar rubbish.

Having been the recipient of some fraudulent activity on my card over night, I am not able to purchase anything today. Probably a good thing for my bank balance in hindsight, but I did have my eye on some things which is annoying.
