Same POTUSA gig! Cracking stuff. Seem to remember they played 4 songs off their other albums then said, “oh yeah, better play the album!” and launched into Kitty.

Forgot about the Cribs doing Men’s Needs Women’s Needs Whatever. Was nice to see Lee Ranaldo rock up and do his spoken word bit in Be Safe, which is something we wouldn’t have got if it hadn’t been a full album show.

What you on about? They keep him in the van just in case they put it on the setlist.

Wonder who gets to sit in the front, him or Johnny Marr

Not generally a fan, but will most likely go if it’s a band I’d see anyway.

Wouldn’t really consider things like Mogwai doing Atomic or 65dos/Silent Running in the same category: those are records that are specifically written to accompany the film so need to be in order.

The much-mentioned Sonic Youth playing Daydream Nation was the first and probably best I’ve been to. Think that was enough of a departure for them given that an average SY gig would only include one or two songs from that era. Seem to remember they rattled out a few from the latest album as an encore, but might be getting mixed up.

Just going to quote what I wrote in the last night’s gig thread about seeing U2 doing the Joshua Tree last summer…

Sonic Youth doing Daydream Nation and Belle and Sebastian doing Are you feeling Sinister stand out for me. Both really great gigs.

I remember one of those Sonic Youth gigs at the Roundhouse and they played Expressway to yr skull as the encore.

Decemberists Hazards Of Love was great.

Guess I’ve seen of Montreal do Hissing Fauna… in full, in order, but wasn’t exactly a show. Went to see Kraftwerk The Man Machine but I dunno whether they played in it track order or not.

Can’t think of anyone OFTOMH I’d love to see play an album in full.

Springsteen doing Born In The USA front to back at Hard Rock Calling a few years ago was an unexpected treat. Turns out it was filmed and ended up being released as a bonus DVD with High Hopes…

Other than that, I have seen Manics do THB and Journal and SFA do Fuzzy Logic and Radiator.

InMe did a fun thing a few years back - towards the end of 2010, they played all their albums on separate nights at The Garage in London (I think over the course of a month or so). Really good fun!

Ah, I didn’t realise he’d missed tracks, thought they were just playing the UK version, which I’m not familiar with. (And in hindsight, not sure why I called it ‘great’ upthread. Definitely good to hear some of the deep cuts though).

Paul Draper is apparently doing Six next year but not quite the same is it. Managed to miss the original tour- saw them on AOTGL tour then didn’t see them again until just before the split (paper round didn’t cover cross country travel!)

Interpol-TOTBL Good but had already seen all the songs live so wasn’t life changing.
Manics- Holy Bible at Manchester Albert Hall. Great album, great venue.
Suede- Dog Man Star at Brixton- just wow! And they played Stay Together. Easily one of the best gigs I have ever been to.
Badly Drawn Boy- Bewilderbeast at Birmingham Town Hall. Just lovely.

This is surely the right answer. I’ve only been to a Festival greatest hits set (T in the Fucking Park!!!) but I’ve never anyone say anything bad about their album shows

Think Idlewild did it around that time too

I’m all for artists playing albums in their entirety, but only when the show is advertised as such. For example, I saw Let’s Eat Grandma recently and they just played I’m All Ears from start to finish. Love the album, but I don’t want to hear it in its entirety. Mix it up. Was looking forward to hearing ‘Eat Shiitake Mushrooms’ too.

That aside, saw Cat Power perform The Covers Record and Múm play Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK on the same bill. That was a wonderful show.

The only one I’ve seen is Andrew WK doing I Get Wet and it was fucking awesome

oh aye I saw that! that was anthem centric

I seem to be the only one stupid enough to pay to see Tricky perform Maxinquaye.
He was absolutely trashed, couldn’t be bothered to play tracks from the album he was touring, decided we should see some of his proteges perform weak tracks during his set and tried to punch someone in the crowd who complained.
Only time I have booed at a gig and we left shortly after he was offering people out for a fight.
