Bands that have bigger success outside of their home country

Jamiroquai seem pretty huge on the continent and fairly forgotten about/derided here.

Yeah, Pixies were the first name that sprung to mind.

To begin with Hendrix was far bigger in the UK as opposed to the US. In fact when he made his name here and then went back to the US a lot of people assumed he was a UK act.

I semi know someone who plays (played? dunno) keyboards for Mika and apparently he is massive in some areas of Europe still

There’s a guy called Charlie Winston from England, who is massive in France

He is fucking awful

He’s huge, he’s a judge on The Voice Italy too

One of the things I like about desktop Spotify is that it tells you which cities/countries have the most listeners for any artist. Care to guess where the highest number of Jamiroquai’s monthly listeners are based?

I get the impression that We Are Scientists are much bigger in the UK than the US.

They moved to the UK and recruited one of the Razorlights as a member didn’t they?

Isn’t Natasha Bedingfield massive in America or have I made that up?

One you really wouldn’t expect: on the recent podcast he did with Barak Obama, Bruce Springsteen said that about two-thirds of his audience (I think he meant for live shows) is in Europe, compared to about one third in the US.

ā€˜Storming’ Norman Wisdom - big in Albania

I made a throwaway comment about Jamiroquai on Twitter once and was inundated with their fans insulting me for about 3 days.

Get the sense The Cure are absolutely enormous in Europe, as opposed to the ā€œreally quite bigā€ they are in the UK.

Good. Great band.

Marillion are HUGE in South America and Europe. One of our old neighbours was a proper follow-them-around kind of fan, and he went on the South American leg of their tour.
