Was thinking about them reforming the other day actually as me and my bro were discussing how many good tracks they have

thing with bands who have split is the same as plenty of other bands, lacking the things that made them good in the first place

if i could see Oasis in a venue without loads of fucking dickheads and where they’d somehow teleported Liam’s voice from about 1995, that would be fairly high up on my list

i’d say the same thing about Black Sabbath and Ozzy’s voice from about 1970 too… plus Bill Ward on the drums

my real answers are Oceansize (who I did see, on the Frames tour) and Million Dead (who I never saw)

well it was the drugs mainly. There’s a number of articles about it. One that I’m failing to find right now with Mike Vennart.

This video I guess was a good example of the frustration that Vennart and the band had with him Heron

I didn’t realise he directed Slow West! Surreal!

I’d love to see the original Mars Volta lineup again.

Poor Ikey :’(

I would as well, or really just have them reform again. Get someone to try and fill his shoes.

I suppose At the Drive-In or Antemasque technically could do a set of all Volta songs but that is pretty unlikely.

Good chance the Volta will reunite and record at some point.

They’d both need much better drummers. To be fair TMV’s track record of drummers is pretty phenomenal. Pridgen was amazing in a totally different way to Theodore. They could probably try, but it wouldn’t be the same. Also, they’d probably have to play them straight as opposed to TMV’s long jams. Love the jams.

The classic lineup of Gorky’s got back together for Johns wedding. Only played 3 or 4 songs though if memory serves. I was with John the day he made the phone call to say he was quitting…

Cardiacs - 0.1/10

Silver Jews
Or Bill Callahan doing nothing but Smog songs

Terrorvision.

10/10, they’ve got fuck all better to do.

Definetly, 2 out of 3 are in part chimp so it’s a possibility. I seem to vauely remember from that reunion show at the buffalo bar (RIP) that Ray, the bassist has hardly played since they stopped originally so it may be a bit unlikely.

I’d like to see Quickspace back too, they seem to surface randomly every few years, but it’s been a while.

Clipse - 6/10

They played Bearded Theory - if not last year then the year before.

Had such a good night at the Buffalo Bar gig! A Quicksilver reunion would also be a fine thing- think that’s possibly more likely.

ha! take it you’ve seen this:

i can just see myself leaning on a pillar…

Yeah, watched it a few times- we were maybe a couple of rows back! Was such a fun night! Always hoped the whole set would eventually appear on YouTube but alas…

Interesting and v good to know…thanks folks. I knew about the Getaway re-issue and have been digging it a lot - great bonus material. Well…let’s hope for a gig…I must admit I really liked the David Kilgour and the heavy eights album too of a few years back End Times Undone and it was the solo-ish material that made me thought the Clean remained a thing of the past…

Thanks…yeah…I really love Madder Rose and have very fond memories of gigs at the Astoria and various festivals…incredible to think they headlined the second stage at Reading in 94…
Billy and Mary played a few Madder Rose numbers when they were touring Piano Creeps and I always held up some hope after that for a reformation…I think I read at some stage that they were together and had a kid…so that also bodes well probably

Quicksilver! Love predictive text!
