David Shields this I think (Uncle of MBV’s Kevin*), grows from minimal, but everything about it serves the groove. Some ridiculously subtle, smart use of gliss. Lovely!

Also, this from David Williams Sims (inventor of computer game ‘Sims’). Swagger for days. Always thought the lyrics of their ‘Zachariah’ could have been about this bassline.

Basically stolen from Miles Davis (great expectations), but far better imo.
Disintegration by The Cure, could listen to it on loop for hours.

this has a fair shout for best bassline of all time though
The rhythm section on their first record was just really incredible imo. They never seemed as fussed on the following releases.
You could pick every single track off that album tbh.
