I barbecue all year round. Literally. Been out in oishing ran, cooking under my garage door. Simply it is the best.

Chicken souvalki
Turkey kofta
Burgers
Hot dogs and sausages
Steaks

Basically everything is good. I am eater a natural or I just take my time. Even just this past week we’ve barbecued three times in the past seven days.

I feel bad for everyone not barbecuing. I’ve used mine so much it is banjaxed and needs replacing.

My wife thinks I’m being silly when I say it, but I’m determined to have my BBQ in use all year round when we’ve got a house. Still determined to get a pit built in our hypothetical garden.

edit: just turn your garden in to the kitchen

In my last house share we rented off a Greek Cypriot guy who had built a double brick BBQ in the garden. Lived there 4 years, and we used it once. What a bunch of wallies.

The game changer for me was getting a chimney starter. I can get in from work, light that, and be cooking in 30 mins or so. We’d use it more, but I just don’t think it’s worth the bother for cooking for two.

Aubergine and/or courgette, sliced to 1cm or a bit less (best to do the courgette lenthwise/at an angle or the pieces will fall through the grill) and dipped in olive oil. Could add herbs/spices if you like. I’m not a vegetarian but would happily eat my own weight in barbecued aubergine

Go on then - why are you some of you referring to it as a BBBQ?

The extra B is for BYOBB

It never ceases to amaze me how much detail people remember from the simpsons.

I always do loads of veggie stuff on the bbbq :+1:

Spring onions, babygem lettuce, cauliflower steaks, tomatoes on the vine can all go straight on the grill once basted with a little oil. Quite often do chopped onions (green or red) in a tray too. Jacket potatoes also. Obviously all of the halloumi too.

If you want to get all showy offy you can make bread on your bbbq which looks pretty impressive.

Sometimes for dessert I’ll slice pineapple, marinade in rum overnight, and grill that up. Delicious.

^This. Game changer indeed. They had them in Aldi for a fiver recently.

My bbbq season tends to only cover March to October. If I had a gas jobby (ie was cheaing) I can imagine I would probably do all year

My Dad did the same, he did pizza for everybody that came round for about 6 months, cooked the ham in there at Christmas.

Don’t think its been used for about a year now.

Grill then dust with cinnamon.

doesn’t matter does it.

Fact is he built and has a pizza oven

This idea it is cheating is strange though isn’t it. Maybe it is here, but everyone in Canada has a “propane” barbecue.

has anyone got any experience of using one of these?

I was only kidding. My old next door neighbours had a gas bbbq and did absolutely all of their meat and fish cooking on it year round. Made a lot of sense :+1:

Yeah, my Dad’s has been lying dormant for a few summers now. I remember mentioning those Uuni things to him and he was all “£200?? I can build one for half that!”. Yeah, one four times the size that you don’t use and now can’t physically move. :ok_hand:
