That’s an annoyingly normal set of choices. Missing the wild card. Shove someone like dr Crippen or pierce brosnan in there please.

The man who turned “nasal discharge” into history.

Amazing that he pre-empted the future treatment of syphillis by calling his invention penis-illin’

Top comrade too

I know this isn’t the place for serious discussion and I may also be a little biased given that I used to walk over the Greenwich meridian outside my office back in the day when I used to go to an office, but Harrison’s clocks were the focus of “a big deal”. It wasn’t just that sailors fancied telling the time; an accurate maritime clock was essential for measuring longitude, so basically his invention paved the way for accurate navigation and mapping of the globe, which is quite a thing.

But no I’ve never heard of Leonard Cheshire.

I think it’s entirely reasonable that Macca should be in the top 20 greatest Britons but there’s no way Lennon deserves to be higher up

This thread is absolutely accepting of Harrison stans.

Just outside the top 100 wasn’t he?

Yes, he’s not actually in the top 100.

Must be a bit gutting that your three band members all made it in but you didn’t.

Weird isn’t it just how much the amazing minds and inventions in British history have been used to subjugate & exploit & extract & oppress
