Such an easy, stress-free win to not include that clause. They just make it so difficult for themselves sometimes, don’t they?

Yup. They’d get taken to the cleaners at any tribunal.

Staff were told pride is fine as it’s usually “a celebration”, but in cases where it’s a protest as is the case with the “trans issue”, as it was described, the rules apply. A non binary staff member later questioned “what you mean by the trans issue”. Management clarified that they hoped their shorthand choice of words had not caused offence.

It’s all up on their website:

Avoid ‘virtue signalling’ – retweets, likes or joining online campaigns to indicate a personal view, no matter how apparently worthy the cause.

Cunts.

maybe not immediately but really wouldn’t be surprised to see someone resign over this

Guess they’ll be cancelling Children in Need and Comic Relief then

“virtue signalling” was something only said by the truly sick on the internet a few years ago, and now this far right term is being used by the fucking BBC. Where the fuck are we going

I’m minded to say we’re already there.

“you must read the opinions of people who deny your right to exist, or you’re fired”

we must try and see both sides, but especially the nazi side

(how this stuff got passed unions and even hr departments is beyond me)

I assume that now retweeting or parroting explicitly partisan points of view is verboten, Laura Kuenssberg is going to lose her job?

I don’t actually watch anything on the BBC now. Is there anything worth watching?

C4 news is better and I’m not interested in boomer-bait like Call The Midwife.

They still put out quite a lot of good drama imo, comedy is subjective but there’s been some decent stuff from them. Loads of good documentaries still if they’re your bag. Tbh there’s more TV stuff I’d wanna watch on BBC than Netflix.

All the stuff about the organisation and politics behind it is pretty grim, but the output’s still good.

bob and paul go fishing

i quite liked… dracula?

try and consciously avoid their news and current affairs outputs now, which is pretty depressing.

I could kind of understand where their thoughts on these rules were coming from. High level civil and public servants have to follow similar guidance. However, the language they’ve used and the way they’ve interpreted the fundamentals is utterly fucking horrific. They’ve proven they’re either doing it for the wrong reasons or they don’t have a fucking clue why they’re doing it.

If this tweet is true then fuck everything about them.
