No.

Went on a monorail last month though.

Went on the one at Ljubljana Castle in March. Decent. Think my favourite is the one in Bridgenorth, which is pleasantly old fashioned and, iirc, cheap.

Love the Bridgnorth one, as you say it’s properly old and rickety - gives it a real sense of danger/fun.

Also, Barcelona - both Montjuïc and Tibidabo.

Those are my 3 experiences of funicular railway.

Been up this one in Salzburg a few times. At the top is a huge castle on a mountain.

This one in Naples is good too. It’s like they decided to do a metro line as a funicular.

Monorail

Went on one in Genoa simply as there was fuck all else to do. Place is a shit hole.

Folkestone is the sound you hear when Bon Iver shuffles onto your iPod.

Think Lugano and Locarno were my last ones. Walked up instead of getting the funicular in Budapest :-1:

Suppose if you’re into graffiti, prostitutes and discarded needles then yeah, go for it. Dunno man, me and the TV went for a few nights and we just never really found (and I appreciate this sounds ultra wanky) the heart of the place. Although we did eventually find a great place called Doge Bar (sp?) so just hung out there all day drinking wine.

Took a really good photo from the top of the San Sebastián one. Think I’ve shared it before but oh well

Budapest and Lyon.

Cycled from Como to Lugano recently and missed the bottom of the funicular so almost made my gf burst into tears because of the pace we had to make carrying bikes up the stairs!

I enjoyed the one in Bergen a lot.

There was one in the Urbis (possibly still is) in Cathedral Gardens in Manchester. When you were a teenage mosher in Manchester in the mid-00s, you’d gather on weekends in Cathedral Gardens, and may have ventured into Urbis for shelter if it rained, or the time they had the manga thing going on.
