Even the Guardian couldn’t resist this witless aside on their article

Sometimes when you’re one of the world’s leading news organisations, you just have to start putting two and two together and see what sticks

only thing i’ve seen that was as bad was yeah that one in Tianjin in 2015; very similar.

There is another video showing what definitely look like fireworks. I don’t know how to spoiler things though so won’t link it.

Read a couple of tweets before leaving work and assumed it was a small explosion. Just seen a video online and, christ, about as scary as anything I’ve seen, the scale of it’s barely believable. Sickening.

At least 2200 injured and 10 have died

Please can someone make this spoiled? How do I do it?

I never doubted Kermit for a moment, but I didn’t know she was that powerful.

(going OT now, apologies everyone)

Totally get what you’re saying but, having lived in the Middle East, it’s never an accident, even when it is. The initial, automatic assumption is, ‘Was it Israel?’, ‘Was it Hamas?’, ‘Was it Hezbollah?’, ‘Was it Iran?’. You don’t need me telling you that it’s an incredibly volatile region. Totally get your argument that the press should hold fire (no pun intended), but it’s not outlandish to ask an Israeli military spokesman their response, especially in light of recent events in the Golan Heights, southern Syria and on the northern border between Lebanon and Israel.

Probably is an accident, but would I be surprised if Hezbollah were involved? No, not at all.

If he had nothing to say then why mention it at all? It’s gutter journalism and they only asked with the intention of fuelling speculation at a time when the primary focus should be aiding the victims.
