I love the illustration but I’m not a fan of that frame round the outside (horrid colour, horrid font, kind of musty and old fashioned looking)
The deerhunter album looks like they really wanted to use Papyrus for the font but chickened out at the last minute.
the kerning on it is terrible

Absolutely. They used a slightly too big font for the title and that gave them no space to make it look right.
