Hard to choose between…

Kanye - MBDTF
Kendrik Lamar - GKMC
Flying Lotus - Cosmogrammar
Swans - The Seer (a difficult one with the allegations against Gira, but I can’t deny the massive taste-shifting impact it made on me)
Nicolas Jaar - Space is Only Noise

with notable mentions for…

Daniel Avery - Drone Logic
Andy Stott - Luxury Problems
Bee Mask - Vapourware / Scannops (also the Donato Dozzy remix album ‘Plays Bee Mask’)
Algiers - Underside of Power
Jane Weaver - Modern Cosmology
These New Puritans - Field of Reeds
BLONDES - BLONDES
Nick Cave et al - Push the Sky Away
Tom Waits - Bad As Me
Floating Points - Elaenia
Kendrik (again) - TPAB

(…plus I think I’m the only person alive that genuinely loves King of Limbs)

Been thinking about this for a few weeks. Sure list will change a few times before years out (and yes, aware this is prob the most P4K list ever, but whatever)

  2. DJ Koze - Amygdala

  3. Grimes - Art Angels

  4. Joanna Newsom - Divers

  5. Solange - A Seat at the Table

  6. Darkside - Psychic

  7. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

  8. FKA Twigs - LP1

  9. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree

  10. Kanye West - Yeezus

  11. Frank Ocean - Channel Orange

  12. Bon Iver - Bon Iver

  13. David Bowie - Blackstar

  14. Burial - Kindred / Truant / Rival Dealer (does this count? I think it counts)

  15. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

  16. Nicolas Jaar - Space Is Only Noise… (in all honesty his Essential Mix is up there somewhere too).

  17. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City

  18. Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, MAAD City

  19. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

  20. Frank Ocean - Blonde

I hadn’t heard this before. Thanks for introducing it to me- I’m only on the second track and I’m in love.

Yes. I’ve got them in my list as well but separate. Think of them as mini-albums rather than eps.

Forgot Blackstar and Psychic! Despite mulling my list for days.

Had a quick look per year, came up with this

2000 - Eluvium - Similes
2011 - Vaccines - What Did You Expect From
2012 - Baroness - Yellow & Green
2013 - Los Campesinos - No Blues
2014 - Goat - Commune
2015 - Title Fight - Hyperview
2016 - Bon Iver - 22 A Million
2017 - Idles - Brutalism
2018 - Fucked Up - Dose Your Dreams
2019 - TBC

but so many in this thread I must have skipped that would surely be up there - Sun Kil Moon, Sufjan, Deafheaven.

Yeah I can see that.
Think these might be my favourite of everything he’s done.

I tend to think these three as parts of the same piece… Street Halo feels like a part of ‘Untrue’, and the stuff since feels like exploring new directions.

Just listening to mbdtf again due to this thread. Nicki Minaj’s verse in Monster is just stupid good, isn’t it.

Haven’t thought about this properly but Grouper’s AIA project (i’m counting them as 2 halves of the same thing) will be up there. Definitely the album I’ve listened to the most over the last 10 years. Still hearing new things - it’s perfect.

I still haven’t managed to finalise my list, but the Alien Observer half of A / I / A is definitely on it…

That’s a great choice for 2010

:frowning: Really want some more Girl Band stuff. Hope they’re okay.
