It really is isn’t it? Not giving a shit about what’s cool offsets not being able to get out of a chair without my knees going “CRRRRCCCHHHRRRRRRK”
POP2 at 95 on that list despite it being the best of this, or any century.
When making music too - I think I was still trying to catch a cool wave when I first started. There is dubstep on an old hard drive that you will never hear. Now I can just do what the fuck I want and look like as much of a knob as I like whilst doing it. I’ll take chronic lower back pain for that.
Lists eh.
tsssk.
Might turn this list into a work playlist for the rest of the month… will skip Drake, Bonny Bear and … Britney.
Was expecting some Muse in there to throw the whole thing out, but some nice surprises, some I’ll give a first listen to. Massive respect for Robyn’s high charting position.
I mean, this is a lot better than I thought it would be. White Pony - fuckin A!
St Vincent’s self titled ahead of Strange Mercy tho, nish nish!
oooooohh, number 1 tho
Come on.
The rock side of things is well too Pitchfork-y. I love how somehow, an album by an American rock band (Vmpire W**knd) is better than all the albums by Wild Beasts, Wolf Alice, Foals, The Horrors, etc etc. Jeez Pitchfork will run their own list in a few weeks we don’t need two the same.
Modern Vampires of the City is better than all those albums by those bands
No Melodrama on the list is pretty bad, best pop album of the decade possibly
Slightly irked that my 2 favourites (Sophtware Slump and The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads) aren’t there, but not a bad list overall.
Emotion also omitted. For shame
Was Sophtware Slump this century? If so then ‘humbug’ to this list, and to all who compiled it. An unforgivable omission.
Yep, it was released in 2000
I have it this way round too ![]()
also given the cultural significance on popular music Back to Black has had, it is absolutely within the realms of possibility that the majority of 45 music journos would have it in their lists. I’d wager only one or two had it as number 1 but it will have turned up A LOT. (It’s also a pretty decent album for what it is so I don’t really get the reaction in here)
this is actually a really fucking good list imo
Beyonce’s self titled ahead of Lemonade is a very good shout.
Which is the right Low album? (it’s not Double Negative)
Not even the right Twilight album!
Them being lower down, or because of the write-ups, or …?
It’s C’mon
*ducks for cover
