Shit I had one of them rubbery little dino guys as a kid, not the game though. Must’ve been my sisters.
Actually quite angry I missed out on this.

Seemed pretty epic the one time I played it.

Mum and I went on a semi-drunken eBay hunt the other day for board games we had back at home in the 80s

We got Totopoly - which we’re not entirely sure we got right at the final stage:

And Spy Ring - which I “remembered” as being great fun as a lad:

Went round hers last night and we tried to play the latter. Gave up at the set-up stage, no fucking idea. There’s some national rail one we’re gonna try and pick up at some point.

TBH our go to is still Carcassonne with a few expansions picked randomly, just good decent fun. Might try Agricola if I stumble across it out and about.

A poor man’s Agricola. Doesn’t even have wooden sheep, ffs.

Oooh, there was some fantasy game involving a golden ring (90% sure it wasn’t LotR related) that’s just come back to mind from being a kid. Smething to do with mountains too

The George Jones and Tammy Wynette Game?

Would play that in a heartbeat

I remember Totopoly - I think, if you landed on a certain square, your horse suffered a burst blood vessel and was out of the race. It was almost as scary as landing on the longest snake in snakes and ladders.

There was some kind of anti-smoking (or maybe pro-smoking) board game in the 80s. You had to go round the board buying fags with names like Burns and Stenches (Benson & Hedges) or John Slayer Special. Anyone remember this?

That’s the one! I’ve only played it once, and managed to avoid it. My two nags both got through in the inside lane that misses it, though I did have a card saying you could discard it once. It’s like 90% of the way through the final race, eek.

Played this Battle of Little Bighorn game last year. It’s nearly impossible for Custer to win, as it turns out, so it is at least historically accurate:

This guy nails it:

That’s right - the inside lanes don’t get it for some reason. How random.
