Best films of 2017 DiS users poll!

1 Call Me By Your Name
2 Manchester By The Sea
3 God’s Own Country
4 Moonlight
5 Get Out

Pretty standard, I know.

Such a good year for excellent (and well-received) LGBT cinema though. Also saw Beach Rats last week which was very good.

Get Out was alright. Really surprised how high it charts for viewers and critics.

  1. Un Beau Soleil Interior
  2. Killing of a Sacred Deer
  3. I am Not Your Negro
  4. Planet of the Apes

can’t remember what else I’ve seen, not been to the cinema much this year

A lot of great stuff.

Detroit
Dunkirk
Good Time
Killing of a Sacred Deer
Wind River

Swap Wind River for Moonlight if we’re counting that as 2017.

Manchester by the Sea, Handmaiden and A Ghost Story are STILL in my pile to watch but I keep getting distracted by easy watching crap like Vikings

Not a single vote for last jedi!! Haha. Confirmed awful film eh @ttf

  2. Moonlight
  3. Call Me By Your Name

^This, except The Handmaiden

Can I please change mine to:

  1. Moonlight
  2. The Florida Project
  3. The Handmaiden
  4. Bladerunner 2049
  5. Lady Macbeth

Cheers

I tend to watch films on bluray rather than go to the cinema so I’m usually at least six months behind; according to Letterboxd I have seen eight films released in 2017 and at least two of them were atrocious so I’m not sure I can justify putting five, here are the ones that were any good at all:

  1. Dunkirk
  2. Logan
  3. Wonder Woman

Last: Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Ugh.

Damn, what happened to make Manchester get thrown out completely? Given it’s my film of the year I’m tempted to ignore your request …

Manchester by the Sea
Paddington 2
