Best Films of 2017 so far

#1

Hey, we are half way through 2017! Let’s talk best film…

It is Moonlight (if we are going by UK release date) but I’ve also enjoyed:

Toni Erdmann
Manchester by the Sea
Get Out
Jackie
Berlin Syndrome
I am not your negro
Elle

Probs some others, Baby Driver and The Beguiled are out this week too so let’s see if they make a dent

#2

This has just made me realise that a) I don’t think I’ve been to the cinema this year, and b) my podcast app must have unsubscribed me from Kermode and Mayo as I can’t tell you what’s even out.

#3

Agree Moonlight but very much enjoyed Certain Women which was a great film about not much.

#4

I’ve seen a shocking number of new movies this year but I did see Moonlight and it was absolutely amazing.

#5

I dont think i like films anymore

(Haneke will be my no. 1 no doubt)

#6

I’ve only seen Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Long Haul & Lego Batman this year.

Both were ‘quite’ good, but I preferred the former as it didn’t send me to sleep.

#7

Judging by the responses so far…the cultural vanguard of DiS is saying films are a dead medium.

#8

Christine
The Levelling
Lady Macbeth
Elle
Graduation
The Handmaiden
My Life as a Courgette

#13

#14

FINALLY

#15

I do actually somewhat believe this

#16

Quite looking forward to the new planet of the apes :gorilla:

#17

American Honey came out in 2017 here so that
Uk release date will probs be planet of the apes

#18

Based on a UK release date it’s Moonlight by a mile followed by Manchester by the Sea

Have also really enjoyed:

Toni Erdmann
Edge of Seventeen
Jackie
I Am Not Your Negro
A Monster Calls
Free Fire
Lady Macbeth
My Life as a Courgette
Norman - The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer

#19

Haven’t seen very many. Moonlight was the best by a country mile. Lego Batman was shite. Or at least vastly overrated. My disappointement with F8 of the Furious was offset by the unexpectedly joyous daftness of XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

#20

Fave four:

Moonlight
Raw
Silence
Logan
