That part where it erupts is one of the best things ever.

Just fits the criteria. A perfect ending to an incredible album.

I know @NeilYoung already likes this one. A great song to play loud and get lost in.

A great sad piano one.

That’s great too. Incredible band.

Really nice one from Hammock a few years ago.

Almost forgot this one somehow. Perfect and miserable and one of the best album closers of all time.

One of the few best songs of last year. Nice and long and sad and tense.

I’ll admit, I threw up the thread late last night while extremely intoxicated

I’m an ambient and drone listener big time, most tracks are over 3 minutes. Hahah

However, the greatest instrumental track of all time is under 3 minutes. I think this was my somewhat drunk reasoning of putting the 3 minute time stamp? :man_shrugging:

we could have the entire Blue Note catalogue circa 1955-1965 here, but I’ll restrain myself to two all time megabangers

this is just incredible

(not doing a very good job of restraining myself)

I’m taking you back to the early 2000’s with these two belters!

Probably MV’s best song

Came in here to post the black amnesiacs. I’d put it down as one of the best debut album openers as well

Emo heaven. Absolutely soars from 3:00 onwards

Great atmospheric, jazzy song from Jimmy Chamberlin. Fantastic drumming, as always.

Checking in to vouch for this:

Keith Jarrett I Fall in Love Too Easily / The Fire Within (27 min)

This song feels like… Um… Well, have you ever been in love and been genuinely surprised that so much happiness was possible even while it was happening? You find yourself feeling lucky and thankful for the peace it brings to your life and you lay back and indulge in that feeling and admire it as if it’s something to watch… kind of like how you would lovingly watch your naked lover stumble to the bathroom after a heated round of lovemaking. And then, for whatever reason, the feeling is gone and then that part of you that is determined to rediscover it, despite your protests and inhibitions and fears… that part that stirs and reaches… that restless, stubborn, unkillable, bold, burning part of you dying to kiss and touch and lick, dying to be profoundly present… that promising part of you given to reincarnation, given to all things desire, come what may, your inner hedonist maybe? That part of you becomes recognized and celebrated after an eternity recollecting your best moments spent in love. An outpouring of memory and emotion. When a rainstorm keeps you indoors for the day. That’s what this song feels like

Sorry for the lengthy, scattershot description. Communicating how an instrumental song resonates with me is always an embarrassing, messy process

Oh and bless you all, once again, for creating a place I can come and talk about serious instrumental music in the age of Mumble Rap and Billie Eilish <3
