Best Opening Track On An Album

To christen these new boards, let’s have your favourite opening songs on an album.

Mine has to be ‘Somewhat Damaged’ off of The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails. It’s one of the purest, powerful and exhilarating pieces of music I’ve ever heard. Those drums toward the end get me kinda high every single time!

Here’s a somewhat intense live version:

Always loved Arab Strap - Packs of Three.

“it was the… Biggest cock you’d ever seen
But you’d no idea where that cock had been
You said you were careful
You never were with me.
I heard you did it four times that night
But jonnies only come in packs of three”

I’m inclined to agree with you @sean - proper mission statement, isn’t it? Absolutely love the slightly jarring time signature (9/4?) in the opening section as well.

How could I ever think
It’s funny how everything that
Swore it wouldn’t change is different now
Just like you would always say
We’ll make it through
Then my head fell apart
And where were you?

Could not better this pair of choices. Would add:

Atrocity Exhibition- Joy Division (Closer)
21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson ( In the Court of the Crimson King)

And a couple of brilliant Bowie ones:

Five Years ( Ziggy Stardust)
Changes (Hunky Dory)
