As a hardworking tax payer/parent
“Speaking as a parent…”
“Just putting this out there…”
One thing I would say though…
‘With all due respect…’
“Unaccustomed to public speaking as I am…”
As God is my witness
When about to say something that I’ve been meaning to say for absolutely ages and have finally mustered up the confidence and courage to bring up:
“Oh yeah, I just remembered–”
“No offense, but… [something demonstrably offensive]”
What it is, right…
Ever since that episode of ‘Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle’, I often imagine ending sentences with “so get used to it, fuckers”
“Speaking as a parent…”
Aaaahhhhh
Not enough people start their sentences by saying “Hark!” anymore.
HARK IF YOU’RE HOLY
I usually go with “I can’t believe I actually have to say this out loud”. Gets an outing with both year ten and senior management fairly frequently.
My neighbour uses “To be fair” as her main starter. Drives me up the wall.
Going to try each of these out on my tours and report back.
gahhh my boss has loads of these
“realistically”
“at this moment in time”
“with regards to yourself” <<<drives me insane this one
“at the end of the day”
“irregardless of what happened/was said…”
“to sum up”
errrrm
