Definately Persona 5 for me too. Not sure there’s much I can add to this other than to say it’s an absolute joy to play and ticks all of the boxes for what I love about video games.

Did you make the Persona IM app!? I have that coupled with the notification sounds from the game :grinning:

Friends of mine have commented on my use of that app so many times! Everyone thinks it’s amazing. I love it.

i did indeed make it!

still amazes me that so many people downloaded it let alone like and use it, figured a few people would download it and go “huh, neat” and then switch back asap. last time i checked it was on just over 200k downloads :astonished:

one day i finish it off with all the features i’d like to add, honest…

I’d love to play this. Sounds so intriguing.

I listened to a podcast recently and they were talking about this. The host made some comment about putting 400-500 hours into it and still not having seen the end sequence. Is it impossible to finish or was he being dramatic for an easy laugh?!

400-500 seems excessive tbh, the only way you can not get to the proper ending is if, near the end when you basically get asked “would you like to get the proper ending?” and you say “nah, it’s alright m8” and you get a different ending. i didn’t particularly rush through or dawdle to get it done in 120 hours, will probably be quicker on new game plus.

I’ve just started playing Persona 5 this weekend, really enjoying it and will now look for your IM app

Saying it’s my GOTY, but I still need to actually finish it! I’m around 100 hours in and think I’m close to the end, but then I got side tracked playing FFVII! I think you’d struggle to put 500 hours into one play through.

Getting a Switch for Christmas as a joint present for me and my son (he’s 2 so is going to need some help!) I’m so excited for Mario and Zelda! I’m desperately trying to get all the other games I have on the go finished before then.

Zelda has been hugely enjoyable but I still can’t get excited about Mario.

Trying to think what else I’ve played this year. Loads of overwatch but that didn’t come out this year.

Was Deus ex this year? That was pretty good. I’m going to have to go away and think about what came out this year.

The best video game of 2017 was the friends we made along the way.

Enjoyed zelda, loved Mario but my game of the year by a very long margin is Horizon Zero Dawn. Best rpg I’ve played in ages because it has fun combat, a character you care about, a beautiful open world and actually does a very good job of story telling especially in the final third. Loved it.

My sandwich?

Ah shit there’s a persona called Carmen and I’ve named my character Carmen, this could get confusing

I’m only about 15-20% through Horizon Zero Dawn and safe to say it’s my favourite this year

So much to it, and I’m really enjoying the storyline - I remember skipping a lot of the dialogue in games like Witcher but I’m not doing it in this one, I’m all the way in with Aloy!

It’s gonna be Zelda isn’t it? I haven’t even played it but I’d probably vote Zelda.

Not entirely sure what came out this year tbh. Tend not to get games at launch.

Breath of the Wild shading Mario for me. Nintendo reminding me about the joy of games rather than the grind.

Mario Odyssey’s the only one I’ve played so far, but honorable mentions to

  • Zelda
  • XCom Rabbids
  • Sonic Mania
  • Splatoon 2
  • Golf Story

(and a couple of ports that I can’t mention coz of Vamos’ rules) for making me cave into buying a Switch earlier than I planned. I don’t regret it.

Love this aspect of it. 105 hours deep, I could easily have dusted the main story off some time ago. But there’s still heaps of the world that’s unexplored and corners unturned. Feel like I’ll happily mosey around in the world for 40 or 50 more before I finally complete the story (1 divine beast and Ganon left to do), then there’ll be shrines and sidequests that I’ll probably come back for over time.

Not sure I’ve ever played an adventure type game where I’m not bored to death long before this. It just keeps on giving. Will be interesting to see if DLC 2 adds significant mileage.
