Introducing a character and building enough of a real person that you feel anxiety for their fate in the space of about two minutes of screen-time is incredible.
I thought this as well. Absolutely brilliant telly. Dalton’s portrayal of Lalo is exceptional. One of the great modern TV characters. Menacing as fuck.
There’s a something about how his smile and the twinkle in his eye is basically the same regardless of whether he’s in ultra charm mode or about to cut your balls off with a rusty saw blade.
No I’m happy with a slow burn as well it just felt a bit off today in this episode. They were moving a few pieces around and so I’m not sure it really earned the dramatic cliffhanger/turnaround when the stakes are still a bit unclear
That’s one of the best episodes for me. Loved it. The scenes with the vet, Mike on the phone, even just Howard getting dressed. Just beautiful TV. Felt like a bit of a breakwater episode, dunno, sort of dreamlike and a bit playful on the whole.
