BFI London Film Fest 2023

Program announced later today

Starve Acre already announced amongst the competition entries. Chicken Run sequel we’ve all been waiting for. I’m assuming new Ghibli could be announced at some point.

A good looking line up - Zone of Interest, Fallen Leaves, Killers of the Flower Moon, Monster etc. Will now try to arrange my calendar.

think it’s called Monsters Inc.

Two discovery passes and some of those £10 tix included restricted view for Poor Things…hopefully still alright but was focusing more on things that I wouldn’t normally hear of and was an unplanned add on.

Didn’t get everything, but snaffled

The Zone of Interest
Close Your Eyes
The Boy and The Heron
The New Boy
Monster
Only the River Flows
Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell
Killers of the Flower Moon
Do Not Expect Too Much of the End of the World

Poor Things sold out as I was loading it into my basket.

I spent way too much ffs.

how much are things at this, do you get discounts for buying a certain number of tickets or any passes?

film fests need better deals imho

can someone go see Foremost by Night for me? sounds bangin

I have a feeling the discovery pass options get bigger closer to the time. I think on the 28th extra showings become available so maybe then.

Really like the LFF brochure - love trawling through it and adding stuff to my watchlist.

Don’t get to as many films each year as I used to, but in the past few years have had great results just booking whatever random things haven’t sold out from Thrill and Cult in the days leading up to them showing. Managed to catch some gems.

Now acquired Poor Things tickets, so got everything I wanted.

I really like the printed brochure too, but for the second year running it has only arrived in the post after the members booking date.

That’s poor. I got mine a couple of weeks ago.

I canceled my membership a while back as I realised I only really used it for LFF. So usually make do with the PDF, but do miss a printed copy.

Yeah, made sure I popped by Southbank to pick up the physical copy. Was missing at least one film in that listing though.

I was tempted by Saltburn but resisted as I have a strong suspicion that actors “inhabiting their roles with gusto” means you can see the splinters while they’re chewing the scenery…
Settled on the Paul Simon film, Killers of the Flower Moon, Copa 71, Hit Man, The Stranger and the Fog, and Les Indesirables.

Got tickets for:

Monster
The Royal Hotel
Hit Man
Shoshana
Saltburn
Shortcomings
Evil Does Not Exist
All Of Us Strangers
The Holdovers
The Animal Kingdom
Fingernails
Cobweb
The Beast
The Boy and the Heron
Poor Things

The Scala documentary looks interesting. But probably one to wait and catch on streaming.

Added Foe and a pre-work screening of The Holdovers because Payne and Giamatti.

Managed to get a lot of £5 tickets to some of the bigger shows via an ‘Audience Development’ promo code… these were restricted so managed to get to lots of sold out showings as I was late in the queue! I’m off to see:

Hit Man
Fallen Leaves
Killers of the Flower Moon
Memory
All of Us Strangers
Zone of Interest
Poor Things

V much looking forward to it! Usually go and see the smaller films which might not get distribution but most of the ones I were interested in were sold out (the promo only applied to the galas).
