Accidently let my BFI membership roll over when I wasn’t initially going to bother with many this year but program announced today and some bits i’d quite like to see including new Guy Maddin.
Off to BFI today to celebrate Jan Svankmajers 90th birthday with a double bill so will hope they have the physical programs to read up on things further
I’ll do my usual of booking a few things last minute, and using the guide to fill up my watchlist, even though I still have things on there from LFF 2016.
The website is being very slow but it’s not fallen over, which is a colossal improvement on last year.
Booked for Superboys of Malegaon, The Other Way Around, To A Land Unknown, Endurance, Talk of the Town, Aicha, Motherboard, Stranger Eyes, Watership Down, Ghost Trail, The Churning, Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat, The Shadow Scholars, and Pavements before time ran out. Going back around to see if I can sort Happyend and the Pauline Black documentary.
Only checked one RFH screening - Hard Truths - and that was £30. As much as I want to see Marianne Jean-Baptiste’s reunion with Mike Leigh I’ll wait for general release.
An absolute sod to book, but got everything I wanted.
