Actually that has made me think of one…

and I suspect this is me being old and not really getting the internet.

crap dances.

So somehow crap dancing is good - which I get because it’s funny. But then the crap dance is somehow not a joke but actually considered good. Portly blokes doing ‘dad dancing’ somehow …oh I don’t know.

Not so sure about this. Unless it’s called something like “Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus With Needles”, bands can’t claim to have the monopoly on the combination of letters that make up a song name. There’s loads of songs called Come Together, for instance. And why shouldn’t there be?

Also, I’m not aware of any other songs called The Fight Song - not saying this to be contrary for the sake of it, just to point out that these “unrelated, superior songs” might not be as ubiquitous as you think.

Basically a thread of rockist old men complaining about other people enjoying music isnt it

so is that a pet peeve in music or just a hot take?

Bit of both i guess

The now widespread use of the term of “dropping” an album/single

I hate that question because I want to say a bit of everything, but I don’t want them to think it is the “bit of everything” which means I don’t really, I just stick the radio on and don’t really care. Nothing wrong with that per se, that is pretty much me and films / TV.

There needs to be some kind of catch-all term for “I like most genres, but the good stuff from them all, which kind of lean towards stuff indie fans would go for, but not shit indie”.

tbf, most of the complaints are about old people

to be fair, they’ve played pretty much the same set for the last few years - only 3 or 4 songs seem to change
all tied in with the videos innit.
looking forward to the Manchester international shows though as that should be a whole new set.

Yeah, the videos more than make up for it. Same goes for Kraftwerk’s 3D show - doesn’t really matter that it’s all in the same order as it’s great to watch.

I always kill it by saying I like men shouting at me.

i’ve stopped saying i’m into a bit of everything, my taste is very diverse in terms of what i like but in terms of what i actually spend the majority of my time listening to, it’s mostly emo or indie rock.

plus it’s easy too look like a pretentious twat if i start banging on about that really wicked cadence in the last movement of mozart’s 3rd horn concerto

generally speaking tho, you can tell before you ask if ‘a bit of everything’ means that they like everything on radio 1 or if they dive a bit deeper

i tell you what is funny tho, is when people can’t name any tunes, they can only tell you ‘oh i like this’ when a song comes on - basically people who listen to mainstream radio all day
