Love hearing the birds when Iā€™m staying at my parents. Seagulls can fuck off though, as can birds in the countryside who start belting it out at 3am

I can spend a very long time indeed trying to locate a bird I can hear. Particularly obsessed with greenfinches, which are very elusive indeed.

Greater spotted woodpeckers actually make quite a racket even when theyā€™re not hammering.

Big fan of the blackbirds we hear about tea time round our way (a pleasant distraction from the seagulls)

Since mowing the grass we seem to have 2 blackbirds making a home in our garden which is very nice.

That birdsong just as the sunā€™s going down is very nostalgic, reminds me of being a kid out playing and having to come home before it got dark :slightly_smiling_face:

Thatā€™s probably it - a throwback to when the days seemed to last forever and you didnā€™t have a care in the world. No wonder the sound evokes happy memories.

Songbirds will start calling to eachother in alarm if thereā€™s any kind of predator about, but not sing any louder.

Sometimes they will even get together and ā€˜mobā€™ a predator such as a bird of prey. Always fun to see a load of goldfinches flying after a buzzard.

For those late to bed/early risers, Sunday is International Dawn Chorus Day - so get up at the crack of dawn (5am) and listen to birds yell!
