Also to be totally reductive, Schlagenheim is like the perfect midpoint between Tweez and Spiderland

I saw the first half hour of their set in Glasgow on Saturday (had to leave to get to Theon Cross and they’d started late (ironic because the rhythm section is my favourite part of their sound.))

Wouldn’t say I loved every second but I’m still very interested.

Saw them a short while ago at Rough Trade East. Pretty good. Not my usual genre but like both the album and their set.

can I use this thread again to lament the fact that the bmbmbm shirt I bought at their Hare & Hounds gig fell out my bag on the way home and I didn’t realise till I got back

This sounds right up my street.

Listening now. This song is HUGE.

I like the album version a lot (my dad pointed out that it reminded him of the Cooper Temple Clause and I agreed), though I still kind of miss some of the specific vocal elements from the KEXP version

also does this song “bmbmbm” have that audio of the girl screaming in the background when they play live? It’s kinda distracting. I’ve only seem them play once, for reference

Thoroughly enjoying this album.

yep

he holds his mobile up to his guitar pickups and dicks around with fx

this is the sample they use live and that I believe was on the original 12" release (I don’t think it’s used on the album)

haha, I think it’s time for bed after watching that
thanks for the info. good eve!

I only found about this last thursday. I think it is still on the album.

I wasn’t sure bc it’s definitely lower in the mix and I wasn’t sure what the copyright status would be on it / if they’d have to get it cleared

If they had it for the 7inch I would have thought they would have it for the album. The version on the album definitely more euroracky

Initially I wasn’t sure of the record, think I’d become so used to seeing and hearing those songs live that I felt the recording was a bit flat. Thankfully it has grown on me quite significantly, “Near DT MI” is the standout for me, the sections just explode into each other and it’s the song that actually feels like it has genuine rage in those lyrics and vocals, also that guitar line when it comes in is fantastic, sounds like a computer malfunctioning.

What I will still say is the record lacks a cohesiveness which is totally understandable based on their writing process and it’s rare for a band to release pretty much all the first songs they ever write together, I think seeing as they’ve recorded an album together now they’ll probably be a bit more conceptual about the follow up. But who knows, they may just enjoy their process of writing and continue putting stuff like that out every year, I’d buy it!

Only just got round to listening to the album. Weird how much it sounds like the Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies innit? This would fit right on it;

Always find it weird when a band gets hyped that sounds just like one that got nowhere a decade before. Public Sector Broadcasting almost duplicating From Monument To Masses is probably the worst;

so weird it might not be true
