Not a fan of him.

A few weeks ago he went after another broadcaster for using certain terms to describe black athletes (probably fairly) then completely refused to engage when others linked to articles of him using similar descriptives.

He’s probably very talented, but i struggle with these modern writers who seem to primarily be Twitter personalities.

Ricky can Wolswinkel was a trend setter if anything

He was a really good commentator. Had an ability to give insight into how a game was developing which belied his age, combined with a profoundly affable attitude. As you say, the crackly voice of a hundred Saturdays going over the Pennines or working on something in the garden whilst hanging onto every word.

Balotelli off to Juventus. That’s a bit of a surprise

Salah to Madrid in the summer :joy:

Love Mario and think he’ll look very handsome in that strip. Hope he scores a bucketful.

(Narrator’s Voice: He didn’t.)

Yeah. His voice reminds me of all those weekend afternoons spent listening to football on 5Live while doing my homework or playing on the Amiga. It helped that he had a soft spot for Roy Evans’ Liverpool team, too.

They’re in a really weird position Liverpool, in that unlike a couple of the other top six clubs they’ve got a world class player or two, but don’t have the board-level personnel or deep pockets to really keep them. They improve players better than and have better players than, say, Arsenal or United, but very little sway during negotiations.

Once you are seen as a selling club it’s a nightmare to get out of it. Players see you as a stepping stone

Us standing up to Madrid over de gea (fax machine aside) was very important in stopping uniteds slide

upgrade on Bendtner!

I think (maybe) Spurs are almost out of this, but Arsenal have definitely slipped into it.

We will see when madrid come in with a big bid for Kane

Can deffo see delli alli fucking them over at some point too.

They don’t pay enough to keep top players

Impossible

Not sure.

Finished 5th and 6th since.

Kane’s gone this summer if Real don’t get to the CL final, and probably even then.

Genuinely think it’s more about trophies. Absolute travesty they never win a buggering thing and I’d be right narked after 3 or 4 seasons with them too.

:joy::crazy_face::joy::crazy_face:

Nah, no way. Everyone wants to think it’s about trophies etc but 99.9% of the time a player is gonna go to a club giving them an £80k per week pay rise.

Spurs’ wage cap is admirable but will absolutely cost them big stars eventually.

Fair point. Disgusting, but probably accurate.
