Batman just falling over for no reason

Eden makes people look stupid so often. What a player.

Minor irk though: never going to understand Conte’s obsession with switching a full back for another one on 70 mins, every single game. Would like to see Barkley on.

best player in the premiership, talent-wise.

Which, of course, is the realest quiz

Don’t actually think Barkley’s that good, mate.

He’ll be on loan at Newcastle the season after next.

Huge talent, but just doesn’t do it enough. To be fair to him the balance of Chelsea attack’s been all wrong this season, but he has games like this then others when he’s there in spirit only, or a good few weeks then a completely vacant few, or let’s not forget in one case a whole season where he couldn’t be arsed. I’d sooner have a player who’s an 8/10 every week than one who’s unplayable one week and on holiday the next…but i have to say he has grown on me a bit on a personal level this season, and i do hope we get to see him in a properly balanced team as a number eight or ten, beause ultimately all players with his level of natural talent and balance and strength and twofootedness should play centrally. Over the last few years too many have been shunted out wide.

I don’t think that he’s been quite the same player since his broken ankle. He still has brilliant games, but not as often as previously. And certainly more games where he doesn’t seem to get into things at all.

Victor Moses, probably the most naturally talented player in the league

Subthread until the 3pm kickoffs. Least naturally talented player in the premiership?

Walters?
Interchangeable west Brom fullback?
Lacazette?

This is shaping up to be the Chelsea-est season ever. Manager wants out, scattergun recruitment, key players well out of form, no obvious tactics or style - can still win four trophies.

Lol the way people are talking about Chelsea in this thread I thought maybe they were level, or struggling to hold onto a lead vs Brighton.

4-0

Lots of arsenal fans dressed as red seats today!!!

Don’t care about anyone who isn’t top 6, obviously, so would probably have to pick Marouane Fellaini. Used to be Francis Coquelin by a mile (RIP).

Yeah, you’re right. His inconsistency can be frustrating. The prominent view before seemed to be that it’s because he’s “not clinical enough”, which can occasionally be the case, but as you say I think it’s more to do with the balance of the Chelsea team. Sometimes it seems like he can tell the players around him aren’t good enough. He’ll score tons when he eventually goes to Madrid.

That season where he downed tools was an anomaly I think. He was injured throughout but expected to carry the team, despite getting fouled more than any player in the league (the infamous Mourinho and Dr. Carneiro incident happened because Hazard was fouled and wanted to come off by Mourinho wouldn’t let him: he was also close with Carneiro so was likely pissed off at Mourinho more than others).

He seems a good egg off the pitch as well. I love the appropriate disdain with which he treats Geoff Shreeves.
