watching the highlights innit. john hartson’s got a touch of the john motsons.

To be fair, they’re clinging on to fourth in a two team league (given Atletico’s decline) and have just been put to the sword by a tiny city rival who’ve spent most of their existence in the third and fourth tiers.

Ramos can’t put in 92nd minute headers for eternity y’know

Had an insight into the manchildren of Twitter lately. That whole subsection is terrifying - probably most unhinged with Barca/Madrid.

Seen some absolute shite from Man Utd fans generally too. It’s weird that this is their best team since Ferguson retired but it’s also the most defensive and insufferably needy they’ve been

gutted if he’s guilty :frowning:

there is a poisonous admixture of bellendery, football & twitter which is highly toxic & best avoided for sure

At least, as much as Wenger massively frustrates the entire fanbase these days, he’ll still retire a legend. Zidane was a legend as a player and has won them two champions leagues in a row as manager, will probably get booed if he returns as manager of another club

They’ll give him a standing ovation when he returns there for whatever reason in a year’s time. Football fans are fickle. pathetic and imbecilic.

I don’t really see the point in sacking Zidane before the end of the season.

For one, his track record in Europe is basically perfect, and he might be capable of getting it right for them again. They’ve still got exactly the same first team that blew away the best of Europe last season - just a question of getting the best out of them again. Modric, Ronaldo, Benzema, Kroos all been pretty dodgy this season but all obviously very capable of giving anyone a game

Even if they go out to PSG, or whoever in the quarters, I don’t really see what sacking him achieves - they’ve got literally nothing to play for anymore, probably aren’t at danger of dropping out of top four. Goes without saying other managers have gone for a lot less, Benitez for one, but that shows how big of a figure he is - just seems damaging to morale and “the brand”:mask: to have it end in more indignomity. Give him til the end of the season just as a sign of respect

Obviously he’s extremely limited tactically and that’s told over time - they can’t possibly continue with him longer. Shows how strong that squad was that drilling the basics of organisation was enough last season

Carlo the only person that could maybe transform the season - but with his calibre not sure he’d accept the end-of-season Hiddink salvager role.

Summer -

Conte probably makes the most sense in terms of immediate success. Similar job to Chelsea in 2016

Tuchel would be interesting but he seems too much of an intense ideologue to gel with a galactico president

Pochettino definitely the best option if Perez actually wants to build “a project”. Develop the excellent youngsters and freshen up the aging squad. Lack of trophies maybe the only reservation

Dunno if that’s fair. Madrid fans are as fickle as anybody and beyond idiotic - booing Ronaldo and Bale :’) - but not a chance they’d boo Zidane on a return. Like Carlo. Not sure how the toxicity at Madrid right now is that different from Wenger-Out FC

Basically just seems exactly like Wenger’s reign at Arsenal on fast-forward

Madrid are reigning champions of Europe

Banterbanterbanter I know, but this is also kinda true? Hence why I never loved the guy

Fickle and quick to forget, yeah. But it also shows how much they’re underachieving.

From a first double in 60 years to one of the worst seasons in the history of the club - 19 points behind Barca, Leganes knocking them out at the Bernabeu, their top scorer in the league is on 6 goals.

The club obviously has different standards to Arsenal, but this is a far worse season than Wenger has ever had.

*obviously they go and win the bloody Champions League now don’t they

PSG are almost certainly going to do them, though. And then they’ll have nothing to play for by the middle of February. Not that another manager will necessarily do better, but it being Real, I could see why they’d take a roll of the dice.

Ultimately they fucked up big time by selling off their squad depth and upsetting the balance of the team

Not sure. They’ve got defensive vulnerabilities, aren’t used to being tested very often, and still haven’t answered questions about mental fragility.

Madrid on their day very capable, still.

Disappointed to hear Leeds have reopened consultation over their excellent new badge. 100% of the people i asked about it were positive it was just right for them.

I can’t see Arsenal losing another game ever now they’ve got rid of Sanchez
